This week:God shows that He is always with us when He is with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fire. Daniel 3:1-28
Core Insight: TRANSFORMATION
Discipleship Kit:
- Parent Guide – Use this parent guide to help you walk through discipling your preschooler this week
- Story Video – Each week there will be a new Story Video to watch (from Orange Media)
- Memory Verse Song – Your preschooler will learn this month’s memory verse along with hand signals
Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: Activity Page, paper plate, red/yellow/orange crayons, scissors, glue & sharpie
- DO: Write “I can trust God” on the bottom half of the paper plate with your sharpie. Encourage the children to color “fire” all over the plate. Cut the activity and glue the men in the “fire.”
- SAY: “
- In our Bible story, we heard God is always with us. God sent an angel to keep Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego safe in the furnace. Let’s make a picture of the furnace. Add add some color to your plate to make it look like the furnace. (Pause.) This is the fire in the furnace. Now glue this picture in the middle of your plate. Who do you see in the picture? Yes, it’s Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and the angel. (Pause.) Great job! There they are, safe in the fire. King Nebuchadnezzar thought he was a great king and built a huge statue. He wanted everyone to bow down to it when music played. But Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were friends of God, and they knew that they should not bow down to anyone other than the one true God. The king got mad and threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fire. They weren’t alone. There was a fourth person in the fire with them. God sent an angel to keep them safe. When the king saw they were not hurt, he called them out of the fire. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego trusted God. God was with them and saved them. We can trust that God is with us. Who can trust God? [Bottom Line] I can trust God.”
- Morning Time
- When you go into your child's room, say, "Good morning! Raise both hands high in the air if you're ready to make it a great day!" Raise both of your hands and then say, "Whatever happens today, we know we can trust God, right? Right!" Give your child a fist bump or a high five.

Discipleship Kit:

Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: Activity Pages and crayons
- DO: Encourage the children to color the activity pages while reviewing today’s Bible Story.
-
- SAY: “Today’s true story from the Bible begins with a man named Elijah. Elijah was a friend of God. He loved God and knew God can do anything. That’s why Elijah trusted God. But the king of the land, King Ahab, did not trust God. King Ahab believed in a pretend God. He even had a big statue of him. The king had a lot of people who told him over and over that his pretend god had super powers and that his statue could do anything. The king thought that was great. But Elijah knew that it was NOT great. Elijah knew that there is only one true God and everyone needed to know. So, Elijah said to the king, ‘Hey, king, let’s do a test. We will each set up an altar then we will pray. The god who starts a fire on the altar is the real God—the one true God. Everyone agreed, and Elijah let King Ahab go first. So, King Ahab and his big group of people prayed to their pretend god. They shouted, but the pretend god did not send fire. So Elijah said, ‘Maybe he’s sleeping. Maybe you should shout louder.’ And that’s what King Ahab and his people did. They shouted louder and louder, but their pretend god still didn’t answer with fire. Now it was Elijah’s turn. Elijah trusted God and believed that God can do anything. So, Elijah went to the altar. He had people pour water all over it so it would be really hard to light on fire, then he prayed to God. God, we believe You are the one true God. We believe You can do anything! Show Your power God so all the people here can see that You are the one true God and You have the power to do anything. And guess what happened? God did it! God sent fire down on the wet altar, then everyone knew that God is the one true God! Wow! God is SO powerful! God can do anything! When we remember that God can do anything, it helps us trust God. [Bottom Line] I can trust God, and you can trust God."
- Bath Time
- As you bathe your child, ask them, "Can you blow bubbles in the water? Can you tap the top of the water with your hands? Can you scoop and pour the water? Can you put your head under the water?" Then say, "Wow! You can do a lot of things. But guess what! God can do ANYTHING! It's true! That's one of the reasons we can trust God. God can do anything!"

Bottom Line: I can trust God.
This week: God uses Gideon to do big things, even though he and his army are small.
- NEED: Activity Pages, craft sticks, yellow/orange/red crayons or markers, brown crayons or markers, scissors, and glue.
- DO: Encourage the children to fill the flames with the red, yellow and orange markers or crayons. Color the jar with brown crayons or markers. Glue the craft stick to the back of the torch. Help the children to attach the jar pieces to each side of the torch.
-
- SAY: “Today, we heard a Bible story about Gideon and his super-small army and how they trusted God. Color the flame of your torch red, yellow, and orange. (Pause.) Great! Now color the jar brown. (Pause.) Glue your craft stick to the torch. (Pause.) Now we’ll cover your torch with the jar. (Pause.) We’ll use your craft as we review our Bible story. Today in our Bible story, God told Gideon to take his small army and fight the really big Midianite army. Gideon didn’t think he should be the one to lead God’s army, but he trusted God and did what He told him to do. Gideon told each soldier to take a trumpet, a torch, and a jar and follow him. They snuck into the Midianite camp. When Gideon told them to, they blew their trumpets, broke their jars, and yellowed ‘For the Lord, and for Gideon!’ Friends, break your jars to show your torch. (Pause.) Now with your torches held high say, ‘For the Lord, and for Gideon!’ (Repeat.) The Midianites ran away, and God’s army won! Gideon’s small army beat the big Midianite big army. You are never too small to trust God. You can trust God, and I can trust God. Who can you trust? [Bottom Line] I can trust God.”
- Cuddle Time
- Cuddle with your child this month and pray, "Dear God, thank You for loving us and using us in Your plan. It doesn't matter how big or small we are. It's all about You and what You can do. I (pause) am (pause) not (pause) afraid. (Pause.) Great job! We can trust God’s plan for us, even if we don’t understand. Who can trust God? [Bottom Line] I can trust God.”
- Drive Time
- As you drive or take a walk, take turns saying the two sentences of the memory verse. For example, you say, "I trust in God." And your child says, "I am not afraid." And then you both say, "Psalm 56:11." Now switch and say it all again! Talk about how every person feels afraid sometimes, but when we trust God, we don't have to stay afraid.

- SAY: “I have some pictures to show you. I want you to tell me what you see then what you know about each image. Great job! You can trust that ice cream is cold and YUMMY! You can trust that the sun is warm and helps things grow. You can trust that a blanket will keep you warm and that a chair will hold you when you sit down. You can trust that when you toss a ball in the air it will always come down! You trust in things every day. But guess what? (Hold up the heart picture.) You can ALWAYS trust God becuase He loves you! - SAY: “Do you see Jonah at the bottom of the page? When God first asked Jonah to go to Nineveh, did he go God’s way? (Pause.) NO! Jonah didn’t go God’s way. But after a trip in the opposite direction, and some time inside the belly of a fish, Jonah decided to go to Nineveh. Jonah learned that he should go God’s way. So, let’s use our crayons to trace the lines to get Jonah to the Nineveh sign right here at the top of the page. Great job, friends!
