It will help us spell out the word Love. Put your hand down between these letters. (Press child’s hand down with their fingers in a “V” shape then trace it with a red crayon or marker.) Look at that! Your handprint made the letter V in ‘love.’ Your paper has our memory verse on it. Let’s say it together. ‘Do everything in love,’ 1 Corinthians 16:14. Great job! Everyone can celebrate that Jesus loves them, because Jesus loves everyone. And Jesus wants us to love everyone, too. He wants us to do everything in love. We can love by being kind. Look at your paper. Jesus and Zacchaeus are standing next to a tree. Use your crayons to fill the tree trunk with hearts. (Pause.) Jesus loved Zacchaeus even though he had taken money that didn’t belong to him. Jesus loves us, no matter what. And Jesus loved Zacchaeus, even though he had made bad choices. On your paper, there is a picture of a woman and a man next to the well. Draw a pail inside the well for the water. (Pause.) Great! Now draw a heart next to the woman. (Pause.) Hearts mean love. Jesus is the man in your picture. He was the one who asked her for the drink. He didn’t care that she was from a different town because Jesus loves everyone, no matter where they live. One day, there was a woman who went to the well to get water when a man sat down next to it and asked her for a drink. The woman knew that this man was not from her town and that the people from her town weren’t friends with the people from His town. But remember, Jesus loves everyone. (Pause.) Hold your balloon in the air and tell me, who does Jesus love? [Bottom Line] Jesus loves everyone. That’s right! In our story, Jesus will teach us something really important. He will say that at His party, at His table, EVERYONE is invited. Jesus said that no matter what you’ve done or where you live, He loves you. Have children decorate the outside of their house then draw their family on the inside of the house.SAY: “In our Bible story today, Jesus taught us how to live. We heard about two men who built houses, one on the sand and the other on the rock. I have a house for you to make and decorate. Fold your paper at the solid lines. (Pause.) You should be able to see the roof and outside walls of your house. (Help re-fold as needed.) Decorate the outside of your house with the [crayons/markers]. (Pause.) Open your house and draw your family inside. (Pause.) You did a nice job of building your house and showing our family in it. Both houses in our story looked great but then it started to rain, harder and harder. The house built on the sand fell because the rain washed the sand away. But the house on the rock was still standing. The rain couldn’t wash away the rock. Jesus told us this story so He could teach us how to live and be strong like the house built on the rock. We can love everyone like God loves us and treat them like they are important to God. We can share and help, just like Jesus teaches us to do. I’m so glad we have a friend like Jesus to teach us important things. Who teaches me important things? [Bottom Line:] Jesus teaches me important things.”

Let's fill it with things that can help the hurt man. What things should a doctor have in their bag? (pause) Bandages. Do you see a picture of bandages? (pause) Add the bandages to your doctor's bag. (pause) What else should go in the doctor's bag? (continue naming all the items and having them glue the items to their bags.) You filled your doctor's bag with lots of things that can help people who are hurt. The man was lying on the road and asked someone to help him, but the first man walked right by him. Another man walked by and the hurt man asked him to help. He walked right by, too. A third person walked by, and the hurt man asked for help. This third man was a Samaritan. Samaritans and the hurt man's people were not friends, but the Samaritan stopped and helped the man. The Samaritan gave the hurt man bandages, put him on his donkey, and took him to a place to stay until he was better. The Samaritan was a great helper. We can be helpers, too. We can help everyone: parents, teachers, friends, everyone! The imprtant thing that Jesus taught us in this story is that we can help everyone. - SAY: “Friends, come sit with me at the table. Let’s make a craft that will help us remember that it’s always better to share. Look on your paper. What do you see? (Pause.) That’s right; it’s a barn! This is like the barn in our Bible story today. We heard how the farmer had so much food that it filled his barn. Let’s fill your barn with grain. Use your marker or crayon to fill in your barn. (Pause.) Keep adding the grain until it’s all filled up. Jesus told the story we heard today to teach us something very important. The farmer in our story grew a lot of food for his family. He grew so much food that it filled his barn with a lot left over. So, he decided that he would build a bigger barn to keep all the food to himself. God gave the farmer way more food than he needed. The farmer could have shared and helped a lot of people, but he didn’t. Sometimes God gives us more than we need, too, so we can share with others. That’s the important thing Jesus taught us in this story. God wants us to share. I’m so glad we have Jesus to teach us important things. Who teaches me important things?
